GSIF Strategic Plan

Co-creating
our future

Towards GSIF new Strategic Plan

Since the start of this process, based on participation and co-creation to guide the design and articulation of the long-term outcomes at a global level for the change GSIF wants to achieve in the future, we have consistently journeyed together as GSIF prepare this new cycle of strategic planning.

Members of new CLT, GSIF board and staff had firstly the opportunity to meet in person to learn more on the Theory of Change approach and imagine the future together, while virtual gatherings at a regional level involved Good Shepherd partners from all countries to share and discuss the emerging priorities for GSIF in the framework of the Congregation vision for change. In September we were able to gather with a large representative of GSIF partners, Units and offices to continue in co-designing this new Theory of Change to work towards the Horizons, that GSIF intends to fulfill over the next years.

We all appreciated the openness, the sense of unity and the profound sharing during the intense and fruitful sessions of the workshops and gatherings. We all experienced an environment of respect, trust and harmony, inspired by our common passion and commitment to the Good Shepherd mission. Our wish is that with the new strategic plan GSIF will strengthen its role within the Congregation and “act as one” with all the partners that are called to respond with zeal and compassion to the Calls for Action.

Cultivating the soil to co-create the new strategy

More than 60 people from 25 countries in 5 continents, including Unit leaders and representative of GS partners, participated in the workshop Co-creating a new future – GSIF new strategic planning, held in Rome from 7 to 9 September, to reflect and co-design – using the Theory of Change methodology – the GSIF new strategic planning, aligned with the Congregation ‘Calls to Action’.

The workshop represented a key step of the process started at the beginning of 2022;  with the strategic plan evaluation and continued through collection of inputs, articulation of 4 Horizons and long-term outcomes and stakeholder mapping, in consultation with partners from the grassroots and other Congregational offices.

Thanks to the engaging and constructive contribution of each participant, grounded on deep listening, generative conversation and creative sharing, the backward mapping work on the Horizons and Long-term outcomes began to identify which changes will be required to cause the desired change that GSIF wants to achieve in the next 6 years.

Forward Together

2022–2026 Strategic Plan for Equity, Inclusion, and Excellence

GSIF is the organization created by the OLCGS Congregation to support the development of ministries in the most fragile areas of the world.
In 2021, GSIF concluded its 5-years strategic plan which focused on Enhancing capacities of partners in mission, Increasing and diversifying funding for programs and Strengthening cooperation globally.

In 2022, GSIF asked its partners what has worked so far and what are the priorities for the future. Based on the feedback received and on the key congregational documents (Calls for Action, Zeal Calls us to Respond, Position Papers, UN Sustainable Development Goals, GSIF’s core team elaborated Horizons and Long-Term Outcomes (LTOs) to guide its future strategy.

In September 2022, a representative of GSIF partners will gather to articulate a new Strategic Plan using the Theory of Change methodology to work towards these Horizons and achieve the proposed LTOs. Horizons and LTOs are only proposed here and will be further discussed and revised during the session, together with the overarching Vision and Mission of GSIF.
